Towing a TR6 can be a problem. Perhaps you have all ready discovered it can be done with U HALL; but with only an auto transporter. The U HALL “car dolly” will not do it. There are 2 types of car dolly’s but neither will accommodate a TR6. One type dolly has slide out ramps and allows the car to get up in position but then the ramp can not be raised enough to slide back in because they will hit the rocker bottoms. The other type of dolly simply will not allow the air dam to clear the ramp and appears that the fixed ramp would be on the bottom of the rockers if you could get it into position. The auto transporter is the only thing that will work. By the way, UHALL will not allow Ford Explorers to tow any car.

For the record, my TR6 has never required towing since 1978; it has proven very, very reliable with only nuisances being a problem /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

When we towed our TR3A, we rented a UHaul trailer. It's a little tight between the tires (tires rub the ramps on the inside edges) but fits (barely). The Tundra tow vehicle didn't even seem to know it was towing anything; great truck!

I can confirm that a TR4 fits on the U-Haul trailer as well. I brought one from Oregon to Utah. A tight fit with the wheel spacing, but it fit. Also a big thumbs up to the Toyota Tundra--I borrowed my father-in-law's truck to do the towing, and it pulled really well. I was impressed.

Since I lowered my TR6 with competition springs and have Falcon (big muffler) Sport Exhaust, I can no longer fit on a U-Haul auto transport. The mufflers just won't clear. They used to before I dropped the whole thing 1". I keep Tommy's Towing Service on my speed dial, just in case. I also carry every concieveable fixit part and tool with me on a long trip. Ah, the joys of LBC ownership.

My friend had a Toyota Tundra, and he used it to tow my '55 Packard on his trailer. The truck was really struggling.

Two weeks later, the Tundra was gone -- replaced by a Dodge 2500 extended bed with the Diesel engine. We used that to pull an enclosed trailer with my TR3 in it from Sonoma,CA to WA.
