78 Midget towing

So, if I end up towing this to the mechanic to get it straightened out, what is recommended? I have a tow bar that I can adapt to it and the distance is probably less then 15 miles. Will that be OK?

Tow bar should work fine for short distance and low speed. Further and faster, disconnect the drive shaft. Not sure, but ISTR the trans will not throw enough oil to lube the main shaft. Short trip should be OK.

Hey Ed, I know how you feel right now. But in the end after I got mine back she was good as new. Sometimes you have to give it to someone with a bit more years and experience on their belt. Luckily, I have a guy out here that has 30+ yeras working on these things. The only beef I have with him is he is really slow but in the end it was all worth it.
Honestly, I didnt want to throw money out the window, but the flatbed was the way I went to get it over to him. No worries of busting up and twisting the body. I hope it comes back quick and ready to go.

Ed, I forgot to mention. This forum was a big help making the time pass while my Midget was getting worked on. It keeps you in the mix even know the car isnt at arms reach to tinker with. Tomorrow Im heading out to get some pics done of my car so I can show you and the others in a few days what I have done and plan on getting into next.

I'm going to review the video on static timing. Got the car back up on jack stands. If this fails, I'll be spending the money on a new tow-bar...thanks for the support, dog. Looking forward to seeing yours!

It's virtually impossible to see the timing marks on this engine the way it sits. It is completely out of my line of sight with the crossmember in the way. :madder: I would need a mirror to see it. I guess the 1275 sits differently than the 1500 in these? To the mechanic she goes!! Let him deal with it....
