Recommendation on high clearance auto ramps

I'm looking for high clearance ramps so I can get faster / better access to the underside of the TR3.

I have rhino ramps now which are easy to use, but I'm looking for more clearance.

Any ideas for me?

Thanks!

OMG is that guy still alive? Looks like he would a strong contender for a Darwin award, posthumous or not.

I'll bet that he's related to a certain classic car restoration specialist in Puerto Rico named Pedro....

Probably a cousin who handles the truck lines for him.

For that you can have the full size ramps.
A lift.

Hi guys. Thanks for that link Shawn (picture below).

A two post lift, as Don points out, is just about as much.

I'm not sure that I have room for a real lift however, and the access that that ramp provides is pretty appealing. It would make a lot of stuff much easier.

I'm not sure I can swing the $1,700 however.

A couple more I found - mainly targeted at car dealers but access of these would be pretty good.

These would probably be the least expensive, but do you think out thinner tiers would get stuck on the bars that make up the part of the ramp you drive up on?

I also saw some in a UK car mag that were tilt ramps. As you drove onto them, they tilted the car level and then there were supports that dropped to keep the ramps from tilting back. Put the car like close to three feet off the ground. Those looked to be very sturdy and simple. I believe the ads showed an Aston Martin V8 sitting on them.

Necessity is the Mother of Invention.

Location?? I'd put my money....and all of it.. on
Mexico.

Darwin Award?? ABSOLUTE CONTENDER!

Posthumous?? Very likely, very likely.

Cheap enough??? Factoid commensurate with all of the
above.

Thanks Bill, I'm considering getting one. Where?
Moss? TRF? Wait...don't tell me... Puerto Rico,
of course! Naw, just kidding. Powder coat doesn't
stick to 8 X 10's.

Hi Shawn - didn't Practical Classics have a review of these last year? That was what got my brain going - they had some really nice ramps for under $300.

You'd have to think there is a market for those here...

Take the picture of this to a local metal fabricator. You might be able to have one made for less, especially if you can pick it up yourself.

FWIW, I have one of these.

Kwiklift

It presently is stacked in a corner of my garage, but when I had it set up, it was really useful. It is the perfect height for working with a creeper.

Hi Matt - thanks for the lead.

How do you raise the back end up once you drive on. Is it a electric or hydraulic lift?

Is it easy to set up and use?

Hi tdskip:

The Kwiklift is very easy to use. The front of the lift is fixed, and there is a "pipe" that goes through both ramps at the back of the Kwiklift - you can just see it in your picture behind the rear wheels of the MG. This pipe has a hump in it (also visible). You turn this pipe so the hump is "up", and you can put a floor jack under it. You jack the pipe (and hence the back of the ramps) up, flip the rear legs out from underneath the ramps, and lower the jack back down.

This is VERY well built, I call that lift thing a pipe but it is about a 4 or 5 inch diameter and very thick walled. You can adjust the width of the whole ramp setup by moving the ramps in or out on that pipe - you can see there is quite a bit of adjustment in your picture outboard of the ramps.

Mine did come with a heavy "plate" that fits between the ramps and it allows you to put jackstands on it. This way you can remove wheels off your vehicle.

Hopefully that was clear (tougher to describe than do). I think the owner of this company is named Danny and he is a great guy to talk to.

Let me know if you have any other questions ... BTW, I'm not a salesman or anything, just a very happy customer.

Thanks Matt - that makes sense.

Do you use the caster's with yours or use them as stationary?

I have from frame painting etc.. to do and I think this would save a big amount of time & effort.
