Electronic Ignition Issue

Our BN1 has no spark at the plugs !! I have changed the electrics to Negative Earth, and fitted an " AccuSpark " ignition module to the distributor.

In changing the positive to negative earth, I have the white and black wire to the negative side of the coil and the two white wires to the positive side. Is that correct??

I have the ignition module, ( it has two wires, one black and one red, ) fiitted with the black to the negative side of the coil and the red to the positive side of the coil.

I have no spark at the plugs............

Any thoughts ??

Thanks in anticipation,

Tony

Thanks in anticipation,

Tony

Very impressive, Keoke, to trouble shoot that from 8000 miles away! I've noticed that stray wire going to the battery master switch- what does that wire do, by the way?

It was created as an anti theft device it will grund the ignition cirduit preventing the car from starting. The awirch in rhe boot can fail in such a manner as to short the ignition even though it is in the off position.

I had exactly the same thing on my old BJ8. Intermittent electrical failure leading to much head scratching and replacement of expensive components and it was the lousy, cheap cut-off switch in the boot. If I had another one it would be the first thing to be replaced!
