Correct PCV for BJ8

I am researching the installation of the right PCV as a means of reducing the crankcase pressure in my BJ8P1. I understand that it is important to select the PCV model that matches the unique requirements of an engine and, if improperly matched, can cause a myriad of run difficulties. After talking to a few PCV-installed Healey owners, I found that different PCVs were used and none seem to know the specs of their PCV or if it matches the requirements of their cars. Has anyone matched their PCV to the requirements of a BJ8?

I think on a different thread here someone listed all the valves that cross-reference with the valve BCS supplies with their kits. The Fram part# is FV112.

Thanks for the responses.

I have sent e-mails to a number of commercial organizations requesting some criteria for PCV selection. In my brief research, it was strongly stated that a universal PCV not be selected, however, it seems that the random models applied to the Healey have resulted in just that. Based upon the successes mentioned by those applying a PCV to their Healeys, I believe I will be looking for a unit with a variable spring-loaded (not gravity) valve that has suitable ends (possibly to screw directly into the manifold port). Any suggestions?

All the best,

That recommedation is virtually gospel

What you perceive as "random models" are not really random. They are the same model [component] manufactured by different vendors, consequently, they individually carry each vendor's part number.--Fwiw--Keoke

Hi Keoke,

I wish it were that easy and consistent, however, 2 were gravity controlled hose units, 1 was a spring controlled hose unit and 1 was gravity controlled and screwed into the manifold.

I appreciate that some have used different vendor versions of the PCV supplied by BCS so I may resort to using a version they have selected but I was unsuccessful to get the justification for their selection.

Thanks and all the best,
Ray

In the 70's I used one for a Chevy straight 6. My reasoning was based on displacement, but even then I know that a Chevy is plenty bigger than a Healey.
