Not to intrude on Kims thread, but. Last yr a buddy(John) and I put a a SC motor in our BE's. With it came an overheating issue. Johns was worse than mine. He lost fluid. Finally, we found a blown head gasket on his motor. His motor had been getting getting worse, but this resolved that issue. My motor was marginally hot, which leads to the question of how hot is to hot, but you spend all the money on a special motor, and you want ot take care of it. Anyway, this winter we installed aluinum radiators. This weekend I drove the car in town and on the interstate at 75 to 80 mph and the highest temp I saw on the gauge was 190. It got 95ish in KC. I've installed a remote thermo (Walmart, 10 bucks) and have found that the area close to the battery by the header gets to 135 tops. Anyway, I do agree an overflow tank is needed to give the fluid that expands out a place to go so it can get back into the rad.
