Hi All,

I've just had my attention drawn to this forum so I signed up

I haven't even looked around the forum yet, so I hope I'm in the correct model page coz it's just a Jag in fancy dress! Anyway, I have just updated my personal website today and you'll find there's loads of pics and info that I hope a lot of Jag/Daim owners will find useful.

Would like to hear your views on the site, especially anything wrong with it or any little problems, thanks.

Any UK posters on here local to me?

Regards,
Paul.

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum!! I used to own a Jaguar SII XJ5.3 back in the UK, and I loved the car! Greensand with olive leather, never let me down. Must have been a Wednesday car!

Hi Steve,

I love driving mine also, but I think it was a Friday and a Wednesday car! Built in the Jag works on Friday and then down the road to the Vanden Plas works to be finished on a Wednesday!

It let me down 3 times when I first got it, but I got it home and those issues are now dealt with. After all the work and modifications, I now have more confidence in it than the immaculate Rover Sterling that I sold recently.

I've also added more to the website since I last posted.

Regards, Paul

Nice website Paul, that's a fine-looking car! I noticed that the registration number is dated from around 1970. Was it on the car when you bought it? Just curious.

Does your car qualify for the free road tax? Being a 1974 it's awfully close. My car was the 40th one to come off the line with fuel injection, in 1976. I can understand your confidence in the car, it creates such a feeling of well-being doesn't it? My father, who had never driven a Jaguar before, came to visit and I let him drive my car. On his return home he went out and bought himself one, and hasn't been without one since!

Hi Steve,
The reg. no. has the initials of a previous owner and it misses the "no tax" build date by a few months.

My father was also going to buy one and fancied a Double Six coupe he found. He emailed photos of it to me but a fatal heart attack took him a couple of days later. A cousin went out and bought an XJ6 after riding in mine, and another cousin is rebuilding an E-type. Jags have been in our family for years, so it must be part of our gene pool!

Oh - sorry to hear that about your father /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I am new here as well and have just bought a 1975 Daimler 4.2 so perhaps we can compare notes on it now and again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grouphug.gif

Hi All,

I've been thinking of starting a register of SII Daimler 66 VdP's. If anyone reading this has a similar model or knows of one, please contact me.

The SII Vanden Plas was the last Jaguar/Daimler that was produced at the Vanden Plas coachworks. Jaguar did their own version after the Vanden Plas factory closed down in 1979.

Paul,
Great site! I have a 1975 XJ6C... not as fancy as the Daimler, but still a joy. If you were interested in forming a registry for the Series II models in general, Jaguar and Daimler, I would be glad to assist. These cars are getting to be quite rare here in the states and it would be nice to have a contact list of other proud owners around the globe. Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your great photos!

Regards,
Brian
