I have a '62 BT-7 with overdrive. I'm well into replacing the dash and dash pad, and was planning to replace the old overdrive escutcheon dash plate for the original switch (which works perfectly fine) with a new one. I bought it some time ago and cannot figure out where, I assume Moss or Victoria B. Looks really cool, shiny...but I just realized it's the wrong one.
The original is slightly smaller in diameter (.50 cent sized) than the replacement, and has a straight/vertical section on the right side, sort of like a closed off letter "c." Here's the odd thing, on mine the word "Normal" is on top, "Overdrive" on the bottom. The new one I have has these words reversed, is slightly larger, and has a little prong at the 6 o'clock position of the opening. Looks like the one offered in the Moss catalog but it won't fit at all.
Does anyone know if my original escutcheon (and switch, I suppose) is off a Healey? Any ideas where to get a similar escutcheon without replacing the whole switch (and I assume reversing the wires?) For what it's worth my original temp/pressure gauge was in celsius, not F. Any ideas are most welcome, thanks.
