Spitfire Overdrive again and again...

I'm in the driver's seat of my '64 Spitfire with a late single rail transmission late overdrive. I ground a wrench in order to get the wrench to fit the space for the brass(?) nut that secures the solenoid. My question is: Which way do I push the wrench. At this point, I can't make it move. I figure if I knew which way push, clockwise or anti-clockwise, I would do with a bit more energy. Or maybe I need to approach from under the car?

Ah. There's the rub. Convention tells us direction is always referenced from driver's seat. Left/Right/Front/Back. Most likely clockwise and anti-clockwise. Up and down? Depends on if you're upside-down in a ditch, I guess.

No expertise here, but noticing that you had gotten no help I Googled "adjusting spitfire triumph overdrive solenoid". The second hit was on www.triumphspitfire.com and titled Overdrive problems on the Triumph Spitfire. Looks like it will help.

Again I have misread a post. I thought you were adjusting the OD. No reason to think the "lefty loosie righty tightie" rule does not obtain.

Thanks, Bob. My concern is I don't know how the solenoid is attached. My first thought is to turn counter clockwise, but it doesn't want to move at all. I'll try the triumphsptifire.com.
