Jute placement

64bj8 II. Getting ready to finish laying/gluing the jute tomorrow.

Does jute go everywhere the rug does?

I'm assuming it goes on the entire floor.

Both foot well areas...jute all the way till the end of the rug, or only the angled part and not the area that goes straight up?

What about up the sides of the inside foot wells where the transmittion is? And how about the short area above the front of the trans tunnel that gets rugged.

Over the top of the metal trans tunnel near the back seats?

How about behind the left trim panel, drivers foot compartment?

I plan on gluing the jute to all areas but the floor. So that the jute on the floor may be taken out to dry if need be. Correct?

Did I leave anything out? Thank you, Roger

How about forgetting the Jute it absorbs water like a sponge, stinks to high heaven when it gets wet and takes forever to dry out.Ther are much better underlayments available than Jute and only a small portion of those you listed glue in all carpets are instaled with snaps..---Fwiw--Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pukeface.gif

Hi Keoke, thanks for taking the time to answer, I can always count on you!

Your right, jute absorbs water, smells musty and starts the rusting process. I only referenced jute as the term we are familiar with, in asking where to glue it in the car, vs. using snaps.

I completed the installation yesterday, using Low-e brand insulation. Here is a link to those interested in learning more about it. https://www.lobucrod.com/

I'm attaching a photo showing the installation over the Dynamat.
Cheers all, Roger

Yeah, I think that is the same stuff I used.I never knew what it was or where it came from because I won a roll of it at a club lottery. However,it is not glued to the carpets or the floor, it is held inplace using holes that expose the floor mounted snaps- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif-Keoke

My understanding, smaps are used for the front and rear floor mats and the trans cover. Glued every where else that the jute would have been glued. I found this product really easy to cut and fit. Cheers, Roger

Roger,
How much of the Low-e brand insulation was required to do the job? I am also using dynamat extreme first. Did you just cover the floor and footwell with the additional insulation?

Any idea how much weight the Dynamat/insulation added? How about just the insulation; I suspect it weighs almost nothing, but there was no mention of weight on Low E's website.

Lin/Randy, a 4' X 10' roll will last for years and do all the areas mentioned by Roger with tons left over.Additionally it is very light.--Keoke

Beautiful looking job. When you put the carpet over it do you think the slickness will affect the way the carpet lays, if on the floor you are using the original snaps? I bring that up as I once rode in a car with somewhat loose carpet and trying to get up fell over when the carpet slipped.

No Jav, if the carpets are properly installed there should be no slipage. However, I use a thin black foam rubber pad directly under the carpet.---Fwiw---Keoke
