Newbie Intro and Some Simple Questions

Hello all, I'm new to this board so please bear with me if my questions sound dumb. I'm a 46 year old school teacher with a wife and 3 kids. My main area of car interest is Pontiacs and VW bugs but I just became the new owner of a 71 BGT. I bought it to resell but now I'm getting attached. The car had been stored for about 15 years and the building it was in collapsed. The city condemned the property and sold the car as an abandoned vehicle. The thing that's nice about the car is that its got very minor rust. The falling brick knocked out the front and rear windows and the left popout, but only caused a little body damage. I'm excited to get it running but I need a few things, such as a hub wrench for the wire wheels and a reputable supplier of used parts here in the USA for the other things I'll find missing or broken once I get into it. Can anyone suggest a dealer they've had good luck with?

New parts:
Moss Motors
Little British Car Company
Victoria British

Used parts:
Chris Roop
Tony Barnhill

All have web sites if you search google. I'm sure others will chime in with more suggestions.

Congrats on the new purchase but be careful, these cars have a way of multiplying! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Moss sells the big handled hub wrenches. They're great, no hammer needed. But I still like having a good dead blow hammer.I got a nice one at Sears.
Of course if you have the "safety" hubs (octagon shaped) you still need a wrench.
Cool find, I hope you get hoplessly addicted! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

I've bought new parts from the Bee-Hive (in the Carolinas I think - you can find them on the web)...a gas tank, level indicator and some other odds & ends.

Thanks for the warm welcome! From my limited time viewing the forum I'm impressed by the civility shown to the participants by the other posters. I go to quite a number of marque forums for info on my various auto interests and too many of those forum members use the anonymity of the internet as an excuse for bad manners and boorish behaviors that wouldn't be tolerated in real life. Maybe you guys don't have anything to prove, huh! Maybe you're secure in your choice of motorcars. No piston envy! LOL Well, anyway its just refreshing to visit here.

Welcome Pancho!
You'll find answers to every question you could come up with here - great group of people, all with exceptional taste in automobiles!
I've picked up new parts from Moss and Victoria British, and have been happy with them both. As for used parts, I've gotten most of them from eBay. Just do a search (i.e. "mgb windshield"), and you'll get a fair amount of returns. Just got a new trunk and antenna for obscenely low prices.
I'll be out in CO for the next couple of months on business - I'll keep my eyes out for a BGT with new glass. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
