Strange fastener advice

I broke the (for lack of a better term) pedestal bolt that holds the intake and exhaust manifold on my 1500 tonight. I knew it was toast as soon as I put the wrench on it. It seems to be a stud that has a spacer welded in the middle. Moss and VB don't show a replacement. Any other 1500 owners ran into this? I might just turn a nut down to the proper thickness and use a new stud. Also, I broke the EGR valve off the exhaust manifold. Of course the pipe is still in the manifold. I thought about trying to drill it carefully and then pick the remainder out of the thread. I had been using heating and PB blaster treatment on it for about a week before I got the courage to put a pipe wrench on it. Does anyone know if I can weld that port up? I got the feeling that the exhaust manifold is cast and I've never had much luck welding that. Just canvasing for suggestions.

Are you talking about one that goes into the head?

That Zenith Stromberg manifold is cast - find a professional welder who does that type work

No the bolt I'm talking about screws into the intake manifold just below the carb flange. It's hard to describe. I think I can make one. I could get similar results by welding two bolts together head to head. The only thing is I'm not sure a weld like that would hold up to the vibration and I don't know if I could find two bolts that had heads thin enough. I'm sure this sounds confusing...lol.

Cast can be welded just fine.

JC, unless you are going for originality, I think you can live without that bolt. I run headers on my car, and there is nothing connecting the header to the intake. I have had no problems (with that part of the car anyway).
