I need a hub puller for my Spits. Where do I get one?

Sadly, I doubt most local auto parts stores will have anything suitable. The only "safe" way is with the proper style of puller, which will bolt to all four lugs and bear heavily on the hub (among other things, keeping it from bending and becoming useless).

Try asking around locally amongst any Triumph or British Car Clubs or mechanics (i.e., Triumph Club of the Carolinas). Even if you end up paying someone with the proper tool to pull the hubs for you, it WILL be cheaper than replacing bits you damage with a generic puller!

they do occasionally come up on ebay, that is where I got mine...it's not the original "churchill" but a good copy of it. Important thing is the flange has to be supported...in the picture below you can see how thick the flange is on the puller.

there is a link on this forum to a homemade one someone posted fairly recently and I think there is a link on the spitfire magazine web site to another homemade effort.

as Andy has indicated many of the local clubs have access to these special tools and loan them out between members.

You might try the major parts suppliers. I know that Canley Classics sells a puller, but the shipping cost makes the total price pretty high. I'm not sure if Spitbits or TRF would have them, but Spitbits would be a good place to ask.

There are a number of discussions of hub pullers on this forum. Members have made them up themselves, and have had success. One search you might try is "Spitfire hub removal". Frankenstag57 made up a pretty effective looking hub puller and has posted pictures of it.

Also Spitfire & GT6 Magazine has a good link to a home-made puller at

https://www.triumphspitfire.com/puller.html

Another alternative is just to take your axle and hub to a local LBC shop. They will usually have the puller and will yank them for a (ususally low) fee.

Don't try to pull the hubs with two-arm or three-arm wheel pullers. Normally it takes many tons of pull to get these off, and at best you will bend your hub flange, rendering it useless.
