Front parking lamps and side markers?

Hey Guys,

I hope everyone is doing well.

Unfortunately I haven't been around for a while due to the fact that my home PC (built for online racing) crapped out quite a while back, and unfortunately it took me a bit to come up with the extra cash to due some rebuilding since most of my extra funds have been going into my '76 TR6 this summer.

In any event, I was hoping someone might be able to give me a little advice.

I was cleaning up my engine compartment about a week ago and took great care to cover the fusebox, relays and electricals so I didn't get them wet.

I haven't had my car out a night in the last couple of weeks, and last night while out I noticed my front markers and parking lights were not working. Even though the front turn signals and all other lights are working.

I checked the fuse that these are on and it appeared fine, but I put a new one in anyway. Everything else on the same fuse (dash lights, horn, etc.) are working properly so I'm stumped.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Roger

Thanks Dale... I'll give that a shot.

<span style="color: #6600CC">Roger,
I installed individual ground wires for
every lightbulb in the car. That is what
it tokk to get everything operational.

Here's a photo in the area of my marker/parking lamps.

Sounds to me as if you somehow disconnected a red wire that ultimately feeds the front side and park lamps? It wouldn't be a fuse or, for that matter, probably not a ground, if you still have rear side and tail lamps.

<span style="color: #000099">Andy, not quite sure I agree with everything.
Yup it well could be the red wire that feeds all the front lights.

BUT the front and rear lamps have seperate red feed wires, I almost positive.
I am positive the front and rear lights have seperate grounds.

But if NOTHING up front lights up, yeah, I'd check the red wire first
and then look for ground problems. I keep a black wire with aligator
clips on both ends to quickly check for ground problems. Clip
one end to a good ground and touch the bulb holder with the other end.

If the bulb lights up - it's a ground issue.

I had the opposite problem. Front lit up but much of rear did not.

I'm on Andy's side. While the rear lamps have separate grounds, the front turn signals use the same grounds as the front marker lights. And since Roger says the front turn signals are OK, that's not the issue.

However the red wire for the front of the car is a separate wire all the way back to the fuse block (according to Dan's diagram), so that wire (or even it's connection to the fuse block) is a prime suspect.

I have the same condition on my Spit. Need to get it into the barn and check it. Need to first pull the body off the parts car and then pull drive train so I can get my driver in to work on it. Oh, and I guess I need the time, too...

You guys are terrific!

I was stuck at the office last night and didn't get a chance to look at my car, but hope to get at it as soon as I get home today.

Kudos to Art for the link to the color diagrams... those are sweet and will be a big help.

I will let you know how I make out.

Thanks again for all the help.

Roger
