Triumph TR3 Chassis Frame with Front Suspension, Good Used Condition, 1957, Fits TR2, TR3, TR3A, and TR3B:
This is a Triumph frame originally from a mid-year 1957 TR3. Approximate commission number TS18700. It's from a car that was built with front disk brakes, and it will fit all 1954-1962 Triumph TR2, TR3, TR3A, and TR3B cars. If you have an early ('54 to early-'57) car with drum brakes at the front, a few small tabs will need to be welded on for brake line attachments.
I bought this frame as a spare part to help restore my TR3, but that car wound up getting sold in unrestored condition, so I still have the frame. It came from a dry-climate car in the Orange County (Los Angeles) area of Southern California. The frame has been in warm, dry storage since it was purchased, but has surface rust as shown in the photos. It is 66 years old, after all, and definitely not the rusted-out mess that so many frames are by now.
The frame is quite straight, and appears not to ever have been crashed. The angled front suspension braces are un-kinked. This is a good thing, as kinking or bending of the front suspension tower supports is a common indicator of a past front-end accident. There is some light bending of the flanges of the rails in a few places around the center of the car - probably the result of careless jacking-up of the car, or from making room for the exhaust pipe in a backwoods way (with a hammer). Easy enough to straighten the flanges and attend to miscellaneous brackets during restoration.
The front suspension is intact as shown, and includes the front hubs and the original pair of correct early ("A-type"
disk brake calipers with the external crossover pipes, not shown in photos, but original to this frame.
Please look at the photos with this listing, as they'll give you a good idea of what this frame and front suspension are like. Not much else to say except that because of size and weight, I can't ship this - so this chassis frame is strictly "as-is, where-is" for local pickup only. I'm certainly happy to assist with loading, overall length is just under 11 feet. Jacks, jackstands, and wheeled dollies shown in the photos are not included with this item.
