TR4/4A Excessive body rattles

Any ideas?
Since total restoration my Tr rattles a bit when going over bumps even when I installed pads everywhere where recommended in manuals, etc; it felt more solid before the rebuild.
I would appreciate any comments.

I have experienced the same thing with my TR4. I do not believe that it is the major body attachments that are making the noises but rather small things like under the dash or maybe inside of a door. I have poor hearing and get no help from my copilot in trying to isolate noises. I think the best way to identify the source of a noise is to get somebody in the passenger seat who can use a tube or similar device to listen to different areas of the car while you are driving.

One source I have found is the hood stick or holder and the hood itself can yield some rattles. There are a few things like the hood stick that are always loose, but rarely seem to rattle and are really hard to isolate.

If you are hearing the rattle with the top down, check the hood latches.

I know when I redid my TR4A (solid axle, solid ride) many years ago I did not redo the door slides, and the windows rattled and made a terrible racket, I paid attention to these parts and the TR250 is much quieter, don't know if you did it or not, if you haven't a bit of a pain, even before you've done the resto, moreso after, but makes a big difference in noise down the road.

In Southern Cal I never installed the convertible top or frame. I will keep searching until this
set hearing aid batteries die. (;.

Same problem that I have with the passenger. But the good news is like you I wear hearing aids so I just either turn the aids off or way down. Then I just get to listen to the exhaust note.
