Bn2 excessive oil pressure

After the engine rebuilt I had normal oil pressure 20-30 at 1000 rpm and 40-50
At 4000 rpm.
Using the spin oil filter adapter from moss and the cheap fram spin on oil
filter (moss # 235-880)
After an oil and filter change this week I get 30 at 1000 rpm and 90 at 4000
rpm and 100 at 5000 rpm. I changed the oil spin on filter to the K&N (moss #
235-830).
I have a Dennis Welch oil pump and the holes of the adapter are correctly aligned.
Any ideas,

I suggest going back to the original configuration first and check performance. If OK it may be the K&N filter pressure relieve valve is defective Just a guess.---Keoke

Hi Jose,

I am a little surprised that your pressure has gone to 90 lbs as the relief valve should have released the pressure at around 60 lbs. If pressure is building to that extend with the relief valve open, then I would suggest it is not a filter problem but either a false reading (fault in the gauge or line leading to) or something with the pump.

Just a thought.

Check relief valve is working correctly, pull it out and check, you can even run w/out the plunger and spring (put the hex cover back on of course) and see if you get a difference. If you get normal pressure could be the valve not working correctly. If you get the same high pressure and if the oil pan has been off there is a hole that allows the oil to drain back into the pan and is easy to clog or cover and hence no relief valve action.

Sees like 90lbs is too high to attribute to a new pump, but othes might know more....

Since the change coincides directly with the filter and oil change, I would start with a new filter.

I have recently purchased the same set up and will be installing it at my first oil change in about a month. I'll report on ony change I experience.
