Hi everyone
In my previous post "Progress Video" Andy, from the Land of the Long White Cloud, suggested that my engine mounts were set wrong and that there were some reproductions which weren't made properly, leaving a gap between the mount and the buffer that was far too big. He was right and as you can see in the first pic the gap is indeed too big. The suggestion was to elongate the holes to allow movement of the mounts to close up the gap. I've had another look and it seems to me that the small locating pin is on the wrong side of the mount and this is the main cause of the problem. So, I reversed the large mount and drilled a corresponding hole in the inner mount so the locating pin now sits in the inner mount rather than the outer. This has closed the gap to about 5/32", enough to fix with shims when the engine is installed. I hope there is no issue with the pins located in the inner mounts, I really can's see that it would make any difference. The fix took about 10 mins and is easier than elongating the holes. This may be of help for anyone else who comes across this problem. Here are before and after pics that show the difference.
Cheers
Matthew
