Possibly they aren't. The price is based more on what they cost to manufacture, than what the market will bear.
However, I use an earlier (and even more expensive) version, and I like them. They have already lasted roughly 20 years and I see no reason they won't last another 30. Quite a contrast to the replacements I used before that, which only lasted 3 or 4 years at best. (Possibly the replacements have improved in quality since then, certainly the originals were much better.)
The other advantage is that they turn freely, reducing steering effort. Maybe not by a lot, but it definitely takes some effort to force the original Silentblocs to distort.
Lastly, I know the guy that makes the Delrin ones, and I like the idea of helping to support his TR racing habit; rather than some company in the far east. YMMV and all that.
