Seat Differences between Mk 1 and Mk 2

One of the things that immediately jumed out at me is that Bugsy II has a Mk 2 Driver's Seat with sliders and a Fixed Mk 1 Passenger Seat. Other than seat pans at first glance any real difference between the two I need to be aware of for ordering an upholstery kit. Seat Pans are as usual very rusty. Backs appear to be ok but have not looked underneath the upholstery. Gonna need some effort to save the seat pans. One expense I don't want to think about.

Lucky you, aluminum MK1 pans are available and will never rust.
I think they run about $180 each, probably more than you would wish to spend.
So what you have to ask yourself is what are you shooting for?
Correct, or merely comfortable and good looking?
You can make seat bottoms from wood and put the foam and covering on and they will look and feel great.
They will however not be "correct".
You can source good originals or new made from original design.
As far as I know the MK1 & MK2 seat backs and frames were the same, someone will correct me if I am mistaken (I'm sure).
The foam and covering were different, the metal beneath was identical.

I had the same issue, my seat pans were almost gone from rust. I couldn't stomach the priced for new seat pans and made mine from wood. Some pics in my blog here. The wood is also easier to upholster - just use a staple gun. I sprayed on a few coats of poly to waterproof them.

I've cut and welded in new steel for the pans. An option if you have welding skills or a friend that can do it. Also would like to recommend going with the Mk2 seat foam and covers. Much more comfortable IMHO.
