Bugeye Vin #'s

After seeing a post on the yahoo Bugeye group about how close two individuals vin #'s were I wondered how many people would post there's for comparison? I think it would be interesting to compare cars if we could find any others that are close.

Mine is AN5L/47705, 1960 Model

Anyone else?

Not so sure really but I don't think there are a lot of Bugeyes floating around here. Would be nice to know who and where. By town anyway. Folks don't seem to like to post Bugeye pics either.

They are sequencial and with a good vin number I can tell you when your car was built, month and year.

Really Can you tell me what month I am, 17570?

Does British Heritage still publish reports or does anyone know of any other ways to trace their history?

Thanks

Hmmmmm.. I'll have to do some checking. One of them I have here is definitely a '58, as the number is somewhere in the 9800 range. I'll have to look at the race car, but suspect all traces of that number are long gone. I've got one in Ca, that is an early '58, 3XXX, and a '59 I need to look up. Two more that I'm not sure of, as they are out there too.
Gawd, I'm a pig.

9800 is a Jan 59 build
3xxx is a Jul, Aug 58 Build

501 thru 9190 is 1958
9191 thru 31902 is 1959
31903 thru 49584 is 1960

Jack, I'll look this weekend, as the nuumber 9098 sticks in my mind for the yellow car that's here. I remember thinking to myself, "that's a '58", when I bought it.
I actually bought it as a parts car, after I flipped #58, and then thought it was too good to cut up. It's really on the borderline, but they ain't building any more of them, so I'll try to save it.
I get into more trouble, that way!

Mine is 13550, but the title says 58. I am guessing its wrong. what's the process for getting it changed? Should I get the report from British Heritage and then go to DMV with it?

BH will give you the exact date. etc. etc.
13550 is listed as March 59. Has "improved fuel tank filler neck Grommet to prevent ingress of water into boot space". How about that?

Ha, comes from the "Orginial Sprite & Midget". Darn caught again.

You can tell about what month from when changes were made.
