BN1 Body / Chrome Question

Team Healey.....

Getting ready for final paint and had a few questions for the group.

1) The forward windshield feet are $50 at Moss, any reason to rechrome the old ones at that price? I would guess they would be more than that to get rechromed.

2) The Fender Beading is listed in Moss as 100-6/3000 type is this different from the typical BN1/BN2? I have the old ones that are in good shape, is it better (more correct) to reuse them or go with new?

Thanks in Advance

Michael

In my opinion always rechrome original parts if possible. Especially parts like the windshield feet. Each car is unique in how it was fit together and your pieces will surely fit better than new parts.

For the fender beading, use the old stuff if it is still in good shape. I have used the new Moss pieces a few times and it fits well. It is probably the same part for the 100 and the six cylinder cars. You would need to cut the front piece where the windshield foot goes. Other than that it is pretty straightforward. You need to shape the rear piece as it comes rather straight.

I got very high quality feet from British Car Specialists - Norman Nock. Very good plating & a perfect fit. At the time, there was no plating shop that did quality work within 500 miles. If you haven't found it yet, the rear retaining/clamp bolt is hidden way up under the dash on the inside of the car.

The beading is stainless steel & nearly indestructible unless it is mashed. If it seems short on retaining clips it's easy to make new ones.

Rechrome the old ones...quality is much better..I actually had to rechrome the reproductions I received with this car!!

Use the NEW fender beading...they are high quality..the old ones will always have little ding here and there while the new ones will look perfect..

Just my thoughts:

Looks great..why don't you just buff out the primer and enjoy it this summer?

Keep at it..
