BJ8 top drain channel questions...

1st, is the top drain channel around the rear of the cockpit removable?

2nd, is this done by removing all the pozidrive screws that secure the chrome trim that surrounds the rear of the cockpit?

I just checked the parts manual, and I don't see a separate piece listed...

I already have the top (and its rear retaining piece) removed.

Thought I'd ask, before I needlessly disassemble any more of this man's car :blush:

Considering that all five (5) drain holes were plugged (and a few hoses split) it really isn't in that bad of shape; I just wanted to hit it good with Extend, and not have it go all over the things I don't want extended.

I did remove the drain channel to repair some rust damage. You will have to remove the chrome trim. I don't remember if you have to remove the section of upholstery that covers the wheel wells in order to get to the screws. Hope this helps and have a good day!

Thanks John, I did receive some pictures of one removed from the car (thank you, Patrick) but decided that its condition was sound enough to just treat it with Extend in situ.

I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to the chrome piece while it isn't in the car... :wink:

Apparently, this car's owners are just about to move to Los Cruces, NM, so I guess moisture won't be much of a problem for it in the future!

No. I sent Randy pictures of mine sowing the "holes" that were used to fasten it to the body. Maybe Randy will post the photos?

I can top that!! I didn't even know it was a piece by itself. I thought it was, you know, just there and did it's thing. Jule Enterprises sent it back to me with my refinished subchassis so I'm happy.

NOPE!!----Keoke-- :laugh:

Every thing is removable Keoke. It's just that the drain channel is riveted in place onto the rear shroud, you will therefore need a respray after you have sorted your original drain channel problem out. :laugh:
