BJ8 Inside Top Door Rails-How Attach?

We have new top inside door rails for our 64 BJ8. These are the foam ones covered by black vinyl, Moss item 858-158. Link https://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=28970

It appears that they only are held in place by 5 short equally spaced screws along the bottom of the rail and towards the top center by the two screw that hold the inside chrome door pull handle. It appears nothing holds them at the top. My old ones are long gone so we have nothing to look at. Would they not tend to start to bend over at the top in time?

Help anyone have a good close up pictures of the rails and how they are attached.

Thanks

Sorry,no Picture;

However, one note of caution:
Be absolutely sure you have the correct length of attaching screw.They were very short and if too long will damage the window.

Even if the holes are buggered and you have to use a different size screw keep them to the original length.

Totally agree with Keoke as I had scratch my side window when using incorrect door pull screw.

It is true that the arm rests (top door rails) are held in place by 5 small screws at the bottom of the piece. However, they also receive some support from the door panels. Resting your arm on the window sill is less then comfortable and your arm will receive additional support from the chrome outer strip as well as the window top. These assists will aid in supporting your arm and the rail will primarily be subject to downward pressure.

No worries,

Moss sells the correct screws for the door pull handle.
Those 5 small screws for the armrest are not available. I had to take some 3/8 or 1/2 inch #4 philips screws and cut them down so they would clear the door glass. Door Panel Install Tip...Put the armrest on first and then install the door panel. Easier said than done when installing a new door panel where you have to cut out the holes for the door handle and window crank. I can say that I succeeded in an excellent installation with the long distance help of another Healey club member.

Thanks to all thus far. I am aware of the very short screws required, but my question arose while looking at the new rails and noting there is no lip on the top, like the outside chrome door finishers. They have the lip and the clips. Anyone ever have a problem with the inside rails starting to pull away at the top in time?

I do remember with the first BJ8 I had (bought new in 1968) that resting your arm on the top of the door in not all that comfortable. Also I am not that tall which contributes to that. I have not driven a 3000 since 1972 so when this restoration is complete it should bring back those memories.

Thanks
