Bad Day In The Garage Part 2

It was the same situation on the passenger side as on the drivers side. The lower trunion bolt hole in the wishbone arms was badly worn. The damage looks to be even worse than the drivers side. I'm just glad I had read all the posts about installing poly bushings and decided I needed to do the same. It looks like a little spirited driving could possibly have led to a catastrophic failure. All that stuff aside I have a little problem on the passenger I need some advice on. My top trunion bolt is stuck and so far I have been unable to get it to budge. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Kindest Regards John

Remove the assembly from the car so you can place it on a sturdy surface. Soak in penetrating oil and heat the area around the pin with a heat gun. Keep the nut on the pin, unthreaded a little, and beat on the sucker with a heavy hammer and a punch. Once it starts to move, you can remove the nut.

Steve's suggestion should work. If not I've got a few if needed.

John - I've begun picking out good used A arms, wishbones, etc. that you might need...do you have a front anti-sway bar? Makes a difference in A arms.

Only new things you'll need are bolts & bushings.

Whatever you do, don't damage the stub axles or the upper trunnion..the bolt can be replaced, you don't want to have to replace the trunnion itself (but if you do, I've got used ones)
