Help a bad memory out...

I started on the Bugeye so long ago and got involved with other LBCs in the process, lost all my notes and workshop manual and I have a crappy memory. I’m using VR1 20W50 in my 1275, but can’t remember what to use in the Datsun 5 speed and 3.9 rear end. I’m thinking Redline MT90 for the tranny and a GL4 for the diff, but in what quantities? I would love to hear your opinions...

You have the right lubricant.. you fill until you can't get any more in..... That is to say until it runs out..... that is to say.. to the bottom of the fill plug.

Engine about 4 quarts depending on filter
5 speed 2 1/2 pints (buy 2 qts)
rear end 1 3/4 pints (buy a qt, GL4 may only come in a gal)

Right lubricants, Rut, wrong place!:smile: The Datsun trans requires GL4 without additives that will harm brass sycro's. Unless Redline meets those. If you need the exact specs I can look them up.

The Redline MT-90 is GL-4 spec gear oil. They state that "Safe for brass synchros, as it lacks the reactive sulfurs found in most GL-5 oils that cause damage".
