Okay so I already have FOUR TR's....

I recently had to let a really neat early TR2 go as the seller raised the price at a time when I couldn't cough up the extra $$$.

So I was kinda bummed out about it....but this morning I got a phone call from Cheapsnake's brother...

Seems he found a '58 vintage TR3A laying in the weeds behind a guys shop near Wautoma, WI....about 30 miles from my place. Complete car...TS 39080...engine TS 39593...Hmmmmm.

Guess where I'm going to be at 6:00 PM tonite?

Re: Another TR3 hunt is on....

If it's "restorable" TRs you want: Several years ago I visited a guy in St Clair MO who had a small shop consisting of a repair area and a dusty, unlighted display area where there was a double row of old 3s and such -- I'm no expert but I remember seeing a "small mouth" amongst the rest, if that's significant. A British friend of mine showed me pics of the field behind this guy's house, with all kinds of Austin Healeys and things just sitting in the weather. He ran this ad online under "MG Specialists in Missouri", you might want to give him a call and see if he's still there:

Okay folks...here we go.

I met Rollie (kc doyle over here) at about 6:15 yesterday afternoon.

He did, indeed, find a '58 TR3A...or parts thereof. Complete driveline is intact. Good dash and remarkably nice gauges. Good dash. Nice w/s frame (bad glass). Adjustable steering column (bad wheel but restorable). Radiator intact...everything under the hood is there. Rough front apron...and fenders...and doors. No back half of the body...none. Nice hood (bonnet).

I'm going to call the owner today and see what it will take to buy this...what would YOU pay?

Thats really, really sad.

there are rumours of old TR3s sitting in orchards around these parts, but nothing ever seems to come of it.

The problem is scrap is pretty high right now and I could probably get $100.00 for the hulk at the local yard...and, from what I see of his place, he know what scrap prices are right now...

Good luck dealing with this guy Rick. When Rollie got done telling him what a find it was the guy put a down payment on a tropical island. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Hey, if you keep picking up these little gems I'm gonna start charging a finder's fee. But seriously, if you can do something with that thing, my hat's off to you. It's one TR that won't go to it's eternal reward. Wait...is that a good thing?

Obvously this is a parts car BUT there are some parts that are still salvageable! Wish me luck!

Are you saying that you let TS1203 slip through your fingers? I was looking forward to seeing another early TR2 with Ice Blue / Geranium.

Nope..It was another car in Detroit...the TS # escapes me but it was earlier than my car.

UPDATE.....I NOW OWN THIS CAR!!!!!

But I'm going to need some help getting it ready for the VTR meet in PA this summer so I was wondering if we could get a BCF workday organized to get the car restored.

Maybe Tinster could come over and check out the clutch and repair as needed.

TR6 Bill can take care of the floorboards.

Nick Morgan can fly over and bring us some good beer from Scotland.

Don Elliot could supply his expertise in providing input on keeping eveything correct as it came from the factory.

I'm sure we could get this car ready in a couple of weekends....how about it? Help a buudy out!

OH yeah, I forgot about Mickey Richaud...perhaps he could start a prayer vigil...
