TR6 TR6 Rear Paint, Satin Black

I think I found the black paint I am going to use for the rear valance portion of my TR6, After searching seems the original paint was a satin black, SEM makes a HR-010 Hot Rod satin black that is a 2K Urethane that uses a hardner and reducer, I sprayed a small pannel and so far I think its the way I want to go. I definately wanted a 2 part urethane paint, I did not want to use a flat in an aresol can
Here is a pic comparing my gas tank thats painted a gloss black vs the satin black, a little glossy but not too shiney, I think if I spray it a little dryer it will be less glossy

I've painted probably 8 or more TR6's over the years. The last several I have used a good quality rattle can flat paint. Its holding up very well on my 76 and I did that one at least 6 years ago. Body paint was decent but the black had faded away, I sprayed Krylon flat black directly on it (to make sure it matched) and its still there. You can't go wrong with what your doing, just a little more work.

My rockers, windscreen surround and Kamm back are all painted with SEM Trim black. Looks really good, matches all the way around and has worn very well for 9 years. You can get it in a rattle can, or in two-part form.

thanks guys. This paint is not suppose to fade or chalk either, my main concern is the exhaust soot that gets all over the back of the car and I thought that by using a 2 part paint that I could keep it cleaner and better looking longer, and since it hardly ever sees rain and the sun only when it get out of the garage it will probably last longer than I will.

Hey Kodanja, that really looks good, I just like the black in back, and somewhere I read that having a satin/flat black in the back gives the car the illusion that its wider than it actually is, not sure if I agree but it is what it is and I got the paint so mine will be black. Probably will paint the windscreen with it too

I'd like to chime in here, Sem trim black is the hot ticket, I have used it for 10 yrs plus! Matches the mat finish perfectly. A one part product ,pour it and shoot.
They also sell it in a rattle can. This is a professional quality product, will last for years on your garage queens. I have used it on trim,the black out on tr6 rear panel,muscle car mat black hoods ,triumph windscreens etc.

You want to just paint the windscreen frame,& not the whole thing.

I too,prefer the back painted Black.It just goes together well.
