TR6 TR6 Rear Springs ?

I finally got the 6 on the road and find that the rear end seems to sit a little low. There is an obvious camber on the wheels and with so many speed bumps around I'm worried about scraping the mufflers. I'm new to Triumphs and unsure what is correct or acceptable. I would like to raise the rear but not sure if I should replace springs, use spacers, or what?

New springs are kind of pricey and from what I've heard, somewhat variable. Lots of folks have been surprised or unhappy with the result.

So I'd start with spacers, if you only need to correct 1-2" of sag. Don't have my book handy, but ISTR "normal" should be nearly zero camber. You can jack the rear end up a bit to get a feel for how much spacer you need. Don't forget the spacer will be roughly half of the height increase.

I used some spacers on my TR4A for a while to correct it. They helped some, but eventually I was able to get some springs from Doug Braden. After installing my coil over conversion, it actually raised the rear end up a little bit too much. That is because of the 1/4" plate under the spring to reinforce the trailing arms where the shock attaches.

Here are different spring shots, front and rear. I wish they were more controlled but when I started out on this great idea I assumed someone already had it figured out. I’m sure each car is somewhat different. The rear felt dumpy and I needed new bushings.

STOCK SPRINGS

SHORT SPRINGS, 1” Shorter, 20% Stiffer

It sits now with the Goodparts 1” Shorter, 20% stiffer.
I think the rear is good once I find the noise back there. It may be a tad lower but with less sag ok. The front has negative camber and looks low. Rats, the rear is much easier but I’ve got the drill down now. I think I’m going to try a ½” spacer rather than ¾”.
The important part, driving I appreciate the firmer ride on the road with moderate driving. Around town I suppose its bumpier but the roads are bad and that’s not where I spend most of my time driving.

i used a set of competition springs from the roadster factory. don't remember the cost but don't think it was that bad. they raised the car a little but it rides and handles well, and looks fine. and they were not that hard to install, but i did buy a spring compressor.

Goodparts springs do what they say, others have been variable in my experience but it seems that they have gotten better in the last couple of years.

Randall - where do you like to get your spacers?
Er, well, last time I wanted some custom spacers, I grabbed a pair from the parts bin and turned them down in the lathe  Sorry I don't know of any other sources (but I'm sure they must be out there somewhere).

I ordered the 1" spacers. I can turn them down on the lathe to get the height I like. Most likely 3/4".
