Fuel Line Came Loose; Yikes!

Hey gang. I have to share this story with you. I took my 78 midget out today for a drive then came home and did some work around the house. I went back out to park the midget in its spot and put the car cover on it and noticed it smelled like gas inside really bad. Popped the hood and the fuel line from the fuel regulator came free and it was spitting fuel out all over the place. It mamaged to spray mainly up into the fender well and came out between the front fender and rocker panel seem in front of the passenger door area. I adjusted the hose clamp and tightened and its ok now but wow was that a scare. I could have had a fire and luckly Im redoing all the paint on the car as the gas went everywhere.

Ed, I hope your getten yours out on the road. After that line came loose I went around the entire engine with my tools and tightened up a lot of stuff that was working itself loose. I may need to change out my motor mounts sooner then later.
Hey, I finally got some pics of my car saved in my email. I need to figure out how to get them posted on here so I can show you my engine compartment and all I have gotten done. I started stripping the paint doing a section at a time and have photos as the progress moves forward.

That happened once on my MGB. I was driving on the highway and notices the smell of gas, then noticed my fuel guage was dropping fast too! I pulled over an saw my hose had come loose from the front SU and was spraying everywhere. Scary indeed.

I noticed a new stain on the driveway. Investigation showed gas. Line from tank was leaking. Why I don't know, tightened and all was well. Not quite as serious as spraying gas in the engine bay though!
