I posted a few days ago about the 5/16" connection and the troubles I had connecting a new Moss SS braided hose with the mating compression nut to the 1/4" BSPP male connector on the braided SS fuel line from the hard pipe to the front carb.
The Moss compression nut with the sealing conical ferrule bottomed out before the cone ferrule could seal against the 1/4" BSPP male connector. I measured the Moss new hose compression nut and found that it was about 1/16" longer then my old compression nut on my old hose. I trimmed off the hose end of my old braided hose and refinished it and connected it to the banjo union and clamped it and now there is no leak at the hard pipe end. I have attached a picture of my 1/4" BSSP fitting and the two braided hoses. Also the old nut moved up and down a bit but the new nut on the Moss hose could not move up & down. Each nut could rotate but only the old nut moved up & down. The two hoses and their compression nuts with the conical ferrules are shown below. The old hose is on the right. The old braided hose is just long enough to make the connection to the banjo union. I would like to replace this hose and I would like to maintain the existing/original 1/4" BSPP end but is this a losing battle? Should I change over to AN or Swagelok and go on from there?
