Fuel Hose Decals

I was told by a reliable source that there was a decal on the fuel line between the carbs and another one on the hose from the solid metal line from the fuel tank to the carb connection. The manufacturers decals wrapped the flexible fuel lines as shown in the attached photo which is from a MG.
Does anyone know exactly where they go on the Healey?

Hi Patrick,

I have not seen a marker band for the fuel line. Not sure these help; but here goes (maybe this will help start a discussion):

Regards, Bill

Thanks Bill, they do help me and each of the flex lines get the decal. I’m not sure about the brake or clutch flex lines, but that’s okay. The decals sold today are not long enough to wrap around the flex lines made today because the new lines are significantly larger diameter. You know me, so you probably aren’t surprised when I tell you that I had decals made to fit the newer larger diameter flex lines, lol. The decals will be installed before I get to the Texas Healey Roundup on Thursday!😎

Your car should be really nice with your hardtop installation and all your attention to detail!

I was on eBay yesterday and someone was selling original air from 1967 for correct tire inflation. Unfortunately, Barbie pulled the plug on my computer before I could hit the "Buy It Now" button.

Original air from a 1967 tire would really stink, but then women do not understand us car guys. We’re complicated😎

It sounds like some of you are going for Concours. So am I. I have already paid and rec'd the Concours specifications along with 13 supplements. You can order them in PDF form with a search engine or by the manual. If you have not already done so, be aware that the info supplied therein is not complete (especially for the BJ8 Phase 2) nor "picture orientated", and, unless you are very fluent with the car part jargon, you will be suffering a bit. Speaking with the Concour team is certainly helpful, but they want you to do the research on your own. No problem with that but the search engine on the PDF is not fluid. You not only have to know what part of the car you are researching (engine, vs electrical, etc), but some items like DECALS and brackets, are very difficult to determine. I was wondering if anyone has already obtained a Concours ruling and would that person be kind enough to share a series of pictures, first a close up of the engine (my interest is in my '66 3000 MkIII BJ8 Phase II). Then, we can all chime in with questions and answers. Any interest? One of our members (you know who your are RC) can be very helpful and probably willing in this endeavor. Thanks all.

Patrick, thanks for your older post reply with attachment. So, it appears that the fuel hose coming out of the front carb on a BJ8 Phase 2 IS black weave. And was your findings that the wrap around decal is for the BJ8 Phase 2 (1966)? Lastly, any thoughts on where to purchase?

Anyone interested in exchanging pictures of items in our car, that will be or should be corrected to be, Concours acceptable?

According to the Concours Guidelines, there is a yellow with black type "Smiths..." wrap around decal on every fuel hose, even the 2" one between both carbs. The Guidelines do not say in which specific position. The photos I have seen show them about 3/4" from the end of the connector and for the small one between the carbs, it will only fit approximately in the middle.

The fuel hose decals I purchased from a supplier did not fit to my satisfaction. They were made from an original, but the original and reproduction hoses are a different thicknesses and the reproductions were made for the original hose size. They unwrapped themselves! I made mine longer so the decal could have more surface to stick.

For anyones interest, my research concludes for Concours purposes, the fuel line was steel and "...the steel braid was most likely originally bright finish..." which answers my question as to seeing the hose black. So, the Moss OEM fuel hose in stock will pass Concours.

I am assuming that they still need the Decals too?

Decals a must. Make sure you not only have a decal (near the female connector away from the carbs but also replace, if needed the 2" hose connecting and in the middle of both carbs, also with the decal.

I believe the Smith oil line hose needs one too as shown in post of photo by Bill?
