Fuel Injected Gas Hose! Problem New Hose

Had a fuel hose problem with new Gates 1/4" Greenshield fuel injected hose.
The inside of the hose shredded like I ran a drill bit thru it and when I pulled it off the steel line some gas leaked on the outside and my fingers turned black and the hose felt gummy. Never had this happen before. Blocked both carbs. and both needle valves, aand even made it into the float bowls. I still need to call Gates.

That is discouraging. You would think FI hose would be very resistant to tearing and abrasion.

Out of curiosity, why did you choose FI hose instead of carburetor hose?

I was just looking to stay ahead of the different blends of gas their
throwing at us. I will steer clear of the FI hose. I still want to call Gates and hear what they say. Right now I'm still trying to sort out some other carb. problems I'm having,
hopeful Joe Curto has what I need.

It is a bit ironic that you are dealing with fuel hose at this time. I got a call from my wife yesterday that the GT6 was pouring fuel out of "something" under the bonnet. It turned out it was a failed diaphragm in a cheap pressure regulator I installed 18 years ago. I knew I should have installed the Holley regulator or at least removed the Purolator one. Anyway, I bypassed the regulator with a length of fresh fuel hose but I was thinking of your issue while installing the hose.

Interesting. So far this summer, a friend's TR6 and a fellow car club member's TR6 both had the same fuel line issues that plugged up a carb. In both cases it was standard fuel line.
I replaced my rubber sections with Goodyear fuel injection hose to avoid these problems. Time will tell.
The thoughts of what this crap gas is doing to our engines can really make you squirm.

Geez. Less than two decades on the bargain brand? Pathetic.

I'd be happy if I could get either of my toys to run for two months at a time right now. :p

FWIW, there was actually a recall on those Purolator regulators, for just that reason.

Truth be told, the regulator wasn't needed anymore anyway. The GT6 currently has a low-pressure brick type Facet pump. I was lazy and left the regulator in place after replacing a higher-pressure pump. I was lucky I hadn't had problems before now and luckier still that I was able to bypass the regulator in the parking lot for my wife's office.
