Offically started my hardtop project - Question

OK, so all the glass and weatherstripping have been removed, old headliner, and anything that I can unbolt. The top is ready to make the trek to paint shop. Over the past two years, I've been collecting all the neccesary parts to put this thing back together like new.. we'll see.

I did find that the top will need some metal work at the bottom rear corner of BOTH side windows. Nothing serious but it was something that I didn't see until the windows were removed.

However I have a question for those that have tops or have restored them in the past: On the inside deck lid there appears to be snaps or large rivets holding a fiber material (covered with headliner cloth). It appears that it might hold a piece of trim, but I can't find anything in any of my catalogs. Does anyone know what they do?

Thanks for any assistance,

After closer inspection, they appear to be snaps for the top cover. Since most of them were broken or cracked I drilled them out..

I'm having the shop media blast it, fix the metal and spray it. I had Skinner in the UK (same guys that made my interior) make a matching headliner out of the stuff they use for Jag headliners... very cool look and matches the interior perfectly.

I'm thinking about getting the paint shop to paint the area around the rear window black, along with the inner fins of the top.. should look a little different. Any thoughts on that? I think that treatment would look good on yours too Paul.

Take care,

Shannon,

I'd love to see a pic as soon as the two tone color is laid on. How about that headliner material too?
