HS4 carb question

Moss shows throttle shaft bushings for HS2 and HS4 carbs. Are these factory installed, or do you have to ream your old carbs to accept them?

How much fuel pressure can these things take? 5-6 psi o.k?

2 to 3 psi = ok

5 to 6 = not ok

some have to be reamed and some do not

Shaft bushes don't much care about pump delivery pressures. It's more about vacuum demand!

Two unrelated questions in one thread. I have sloppy shafts and I'm debating if I should send them off or do it myself.

So then the stock euro pump only puts out 2-3 pounds?


Hey, what level should the floats be set at on a HS4? I've got mine at 3/16, which is what that book listed.

seems to me that we recently had someone post directions for DIY reaming - at the same time, I figured that was one skill I didn't need to learn. Had a local guy rebuild mine - no regrets.

I prefer the .010" overiszed shaft repalcement is the the shaft are now standard on the HS4s, it's a cleaner, less problematic repair.

On HS2 they do not have a cast in the body bushings, the shaft on HS2s ride directly on the carb body, and this normally only cause shaft wear not, shaft bore wear, so new standard shaft 90% of te time will be thew way to go on HS2s.
