In a recent poll for Autocar magazine, the Jaguar EType was voted the sexiest car of all time.

I knew that

Would Austin Powers settle for any less of a shag-mobile?

I just saw an ultra-stylish European car magazine at my physical therapist's office, listing the fifty sexiest sportscar designs of all time, as judged by car/race/design celebrities around the world.

E-type was #2.

#1 was the Lamborghini Miura.

Everyone in the office agreed that the Jaguar was sexier. The girls said that the Lamborghini was far too 'heavy metal' while the Jaguar was 'classy jazz'.

I say let girls cast the vote in the future.

Also, out of the top five, the Jaguar was by far the most affordable/repairable.

I'm an Americut just starting to get into British cars...I would agree, It's probably one of my top two or three.

I just really dislike it when people cut these cars up and put Chevy V-8's in them though. The sexiest part of an E-type is that long motor when you open the hood (or bonnet if you prefer

That's called "lumping" and that's a subject that could start a very lively debate. There are obviously different schools of thought about the process. Many believe its the right thing to do because of reliability issies and parts availability, expense of repairs, etc. I happen to agree with you, the XK engine, which was designed way back in the 40's, is one of the most beautiful pieces of engineering ever created by man in my opinion. Although I have seen a few EType lumps, most lumps I have seen are not Etypes, but rather the XJ sedans. Its not something I would ever do, but I supposed if a person owns a car it is their property to do with as they please. If they were to ask my advice however, I would strongly urge against it.

Basil - HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

E-type owners:
I mentioned in an e-mail to Basil an add-on fan and motor assembly that uses the original bracket. To see a sample go to www.coolcatcorp.com and access the parts available for e-types.
I talked to coolcat and they said it was quiet in operation. I hope someone out there has tried one. Let us know!
