Wedge Drove the TR7 for the first time in 8 months!

Finally, the TR7 is working. I drove it and it actually went pretty well. Turns out the thermostat I had bought and installed six months ago was bad, so it was overheating. Put the old one back in, and it's fine.

So over the course of 8 months:
-two sets of carb mounts broke, including the second set fixed with high-strength adhesive.
-old temp sender
-new faulty temp sender
-new thermostat was incorrect part
-clutch stuck from sitting (no cost for breaking it loose with hard drive in first gear.)

The brakes are dragging a little. I'll see if I can jar them loose with some good thumps on the pedal.

But man it was fun to drift it around corners again!!!

That is great news Sam. I am hoping to release mine from it's winter haven this week, as long as we don't get another foot of snow like on Sunday past. I have managed to put in new flooring throughout the house the last month or so, so a worthwhile project, like hoping the 7 starts first shot is overdue.
Hope you get a summer + of problem free driving now from that beautiful car.

I drove my '80 Spider for the first time in a month here in Maine. It only sat because I live in a village area and didn't need the car to drive around the island. However, I had to contend with a dead alternator and steering effort at the Olympic weight lifting level. The dead alternator is being resolved and blissfully, the steering required only a lot of PB Blaster sprayed onto the steering column knuckles under the hood. It loosened right up.

Wow! My Spider has been hard to steer since I bought it 3 years ago. Thought all along it was due to the incorrect camber due to the shortened springs on it. But I sprayed the knuckle with WD40, and WooHoo!!! Feels like power steering compared to what it was. Thanks for the tip!
