Not very far, just from one parking space to another but she started on her own (new battery!) drove, and stopped (brake still work) First time in 1 1/2 years, and first time with the new engine head.

Now all I need is an exhaust system. Sure is noisy without anything attached the the exhaust manifold!

It is good to know another Herald lives. What Herald do you have and do you have any pictures.

There are a couple of us that like to here and talk about Heralds, Spitfires and GT6s. Keep the information coming and pictures. Good luck.

Its a '70 13/60 convertible.

Since I bought it (almost 5 years ago)I have rebuilt the engine, gearbox, chassis, brakes and a bunch of other stuff. All without the benefit of a garage. Of course all the neighbors know me as "the crazy guy with the red car!"

If those pesky things like commitments, job, family etc give me a full day I think I can get it ready to pass inspection.

Looks good. Glad to see you've got it running. :driving:

I also see that the driving age in Israel is very low.

So I assume you take a lot of the parts inside on the kitchen table or on the floor of the living room and go to it.

My mother-in-law tells me, my father in-law use to take hole engines into the kitchen or living room and take them apart and leave the grime all over the floor and tables. I think that may have been a reason she divorced him.

That looks like a great car and a fun project. It even looks like you may have a helper. I can say it is always good for the neighbors to think you are crazy. They tend to leave you alone. Now you just need to find the time. Good luck.

Yisrael, congratulations on this progress; I'm sure inspection will go smoothly.

Tom, yes, there are a few of us who mostly like to talk about these cars...except when they misbehave! Yisrael, I know well the SOUND of a Herald sans exhaust. My 1200 chose the trip home Monday evening to break its exhaust pipe a bit forward of the differential area. I'd almost forgotten a: how loud a Herald can be and b: how significant the loss of power can be (presumably due in part to the loss of back pressure)!

Temporarily, I may go the soup-can-and-hose-clamp route. On the other hand, I could finally fit one of the complete NOS exhaust systems I've managed to collect in recent years.... :hammer:
