I remember snow like that from my days in New England. I remember that the really neat thing is that I didn't have to mow the lawn. I built many scale models in those days, not much else to do, no TV!
Even now I get really excited about foul weather cause I can put the exterior "Honey do list" on the back burner. Actually we have a resonably foul weather day today so I have been cleaning up my shop, hopefully to get some more work done on the 3A.

Thanks for the memory jog Tom!

We've had a bit of weather the last couple of days. Yesterday was very wet heavy snow, slushing up the roads quite well. Then it froze. Now the snow is light and dry and has been coming down non-stop the past few hours.

Still drove my TR8 today though. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

No Salt, some sand and synthetic urea though. As soon as the weather clears enough to wash it, I always do. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Not bad if you keep your head. I use an old fashioned form of traction control. If the snow gets too deep though, I stay home.

We had a good turn out at the Irvine Cars & Coffee British car day today. Probably 20+ cars despite the rain.

The TR8 started after a week of sitting - yippee.

Hey kodanja;

That Ice Blast pic looks just like what we had here in NE PA about 2yrs ago! No power for a wk etc etc: "NOT GOOD"! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

Were going to get some Freezing rain, snow etc today but nothing major; At least according to the local weather channel: But you know how accurate they always are! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazyeyes.gif

Enjoy the day;

Regards, Russ /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif

Cold rain yesterday, today, and again tomorrow. I sat in my 6 today for a few minutes, making PBBBBBBBBBB sounds. Best we are going to do for a while. Next time it ventures above 45 with the sun out, we'll have a real drive.

3 times today. Only 60 miles total, though. Fooling with the carbs,checking manifold vacuum (now close to 19 in-Hg). The last drive was to see how Ol'Basil liked a couple of degrees of advance.I think the carbs were rich enough.
A couple more test drives tomorrow and I should get that "Winter tune" set right.

I did. I've been trying to tune up the ole TR for a few weeks now... trying to get the idle right.. and a sporadic miss at low idle that didn't seem to affect performance once you got going. To fix this, I checked the ignition, adjusted the valves, and played with with the fuel mixture among other things. The valves were out of adjustment and I did find a cut carburetor diaphragm and replaced it. Put everything together and it ran like crap!! I checked everything again and eventually figured out that I must have fouled a spark plug while messing with the carb mixture. I replaced it and took it for a ride. WOW!!! I think this process added 20 horsepower to the car! It should be in the high 60s-low 70s for most of the week; I'm getting some serious Triumph time in!

The 8 is still in the shop and they just started working on it even though they've had it since the day after Thanksgiving. The O2 sensor was shot and all the injectors need a good cleaning ,they seem to be full of crud. 2 years of low amounts of running must not be good to a FI car. The plugs were brand new on the 50 mile drive and they needed to be cleaned all ready. The bill is creeping up but it needs to be done if I want a good running car.

There's something about a nearly 46-year-old Herald being my only current backup for my tired 17-year-old Toyota Corolla! Happened this morning after the fuel pump in the Toyota died last night.

There's also something about a brisk 1.5 mile walk home in 15 degree temps at 1:30 a.m. ;-)

But the current freezing rain means much more salt on the roads overnight, so (thankfully) mom's '95 Mercury takes over. Just as well, since the rear tires on the Herald are really sparse on tread (replacement of which is one project for over the winter); barely got out of my own slippery, hilly driveway this morning!!!

Tom, I'm with you... I'm only about 90 miles north of you. Lots of snow and more on the way. I've got a wood working project going on now. (entertainment center)
