It was a perfect fall day today and this was the first chance I had since I got the TR3 back this week to take it for a drive. Erik did a great job it runs great! The engine starts right up on the first couple of cranks and idles nice and smooth. It stays nice and cool also with the new radiator and the TR6 fan. The Temp gauge goes up to just a little past 85 and stays there. Even when I just let it sit in idle.
This is the first time I’ve been able to drive the car since last September, and it didn’t disappoint. It was great fun driving around the back roads up here and generally just starting to get a feel for the car and enjoy it.
Another big job I had Erik do was rebuild the entire steering system, the steering box, new tie rod ends, steering column, everything. The new nylon bushings in the steering make it a little stiff but it was worth every penny having the steering rebuilt. It doesn’t want to wander all over the road like it was doing before and it goes nice and straight now. I’m glad I stuck with having the worm & peg steering rebuilt.
Here are a couple of pics of the completed engine. With the rechromed valve cover it looks great now.
