Just got my generator for my 66 rebuilt at Star Electric. Haven't run the car yet, but it looks great, plus they fixed it for free when I broke off one of the front ears!

Hmmm, interesting. I was able to finally pick up a used one with a tach drive for $40. But I need to get it rebuilt.

If you take the generator to a parts store, they should be able to have it rebuilt for you. I worked at a local parts store for a few years, and we would send gennys out all the time. I even had mine redone before I left the job. One of those unwritten benefits /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

You could also find an auto electric shop, and I am betting that they can fix you up.

There is a local Auto electric shop here that the guys in my British Car Club patronize. I had them rebuild my MGB starter last year and they did a great job and it was pretty inexpensive too. I already spoke to them about my generator and they should be able to tackle it, the only thing they said my cost some bux is if the armature is bad.

Armitures are 125 bucks. That's why I thought this was a good deal.

Interesting that their bugeye generator is rated for 25 amps, while the standard one is only 20. Not a big difference, but still worthwhile. These little cars' generators don't offer a lot of margin.
