I tried searching the site without success so will ask the question:
what are the original colors available for Bugeye's? If it narrows the field a bit mine is a 59.
Many thanks
Roy

Looking at that pallet, I see you COULD have had your car painted like a Union Jack and it would have been considered "factory" colors! LoL

Below is the back of a one-page factory brochure dated 9/59; colors are listed. If the print ss too small use the ZOOM function under the PAGE option on your browser.

You might want to bookmark the "Documentation" page on my web site ( www.raysmg.com )...lots of good info there.

Thank you everyone! My car was originally Old English White however I just want a different color. Leaning to Cherry Red or Leaf Green at this stage but who knows as time goes on. I really wanted to leave it "nude" but clear coat paint just doesn't work directly on metal and I don't want to spray it with WD 40 everyday, LOL!!! of course OEW ain't out of the running either. Every time I see pics of Jack's Miss Agatha I like it more and more.
Thanks again all.

Sounds good to me. I think you could do a lot worse.

Be sure that, whatever color you pick, it goes well with the interior color. I've seen too many cars where that doesn't happen, and it's really sad to see so much money and effort wasted.

that's what I'm talking about Jack! OEW and a red interior. The seats received new red covers before I bought the car but what I really like is that I may be able to reuse a little of the original red interior. Just make me feel a little better about the whole thing. The original chalk marks are still on the back of the dashboard but the rest were lost during stripping and rust removal....which I'm doing by hand. Making a lot of rust repairs as well. New floor pans, inner foot wells and inner&outer sills on both sides. Plus a new A pillar, hinges and all on the right side. Gotta get some pics up for all you to see!
Cheers

See, now that shows some taste. I particularly like the white accents in the red interior, in the doors and the shift boot. And, of course, the basic idea of a white exterior and red interior is classic.

I've seen red bugeyes with red interiors, and it's just too much red. Also color combinations that just don't go--baby blue exterior with beige interior, for example. Seriously, people really do that sometimes. It's a real shame because people put a lot of time and $$$ into such things, and it ends up looking really bad.

Also, as I had intended to say--I think the old English white is arguably the most beautiful color that BMC came up with. Pure white can be a little stark, but OEW is just ivory enough to mellow it out. All the other colors are just decoration. OEW is a level above.
