Bugeye Aftermarket Steering Wheels

I'm being gifted a few extra dollars for an upcoming birthday and want to use it for a leather trimmed steering wheel for my Bugeye - it's still usdie down in my garage but I am actually making some significant progress! Anyway, I have most of the other pieces I need so am looking at steering wheels.
My question is; does anyone know of sources other than the usual vendors? Naturally I'm trying to get the best price but still want a decent leather trimmed steering wheel.
Thanks!
Roy :driving:

I went on UK eBay and bought a vintage Motolita for less than a new Lecarra. There are also Les Leston vintage wood rimmed wheels there too which would be a period appropriate accessory. Since your car is not on the road yet you could use the slowest and cheapest shipping. You might also check the UK Motolita site, lots more info than the US one which used to be mostly Cobra stuff IIRC.

Maybe that is why I prefer lecarra wheels. They are more like the steering wheels I grew up with on street rods and muscle cars.

I meant to add... lecarra will wrap you steering wheel in any leather you want. You can supply it yourself so that it matches your interior.

Stitching a one piece leather cover on the stock wheel
isn't that hard. I like the position of the stock wheel spokes and the funky flash on the stock horn.
Wheelskins are what I've used for years. Very durable and top quality one piece leather.
Feels GREAT.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I really appreciate it!
I do like the original BE wheel but need something in a little smaller diameter so that got me going on aftermarket wheels.
Trevor - thank you for your reference to Lecarra. I had seen a few of their wheels while doing a web search but didn't know much about them.
Ray's steering wheel sold me on them as it has the look I like and the prices are really decent. I really like their banjo style wheels but I think it would look too blingy in my modest little BE - but I may give a go anyway. I asked them to send me their catalog so I can spend hours looking and thinking - thanks again everyone!

I put in a 13" leather wrapped Motolita I got off ebay for $200 with hub and horn push. Great deal, and I like the smaller size. Watch ebay, good things happen on occasion.

point counter point.. I also like the smaller wheel for more leg room if nothing else but... with the steering on the BE at a little over two turns rack to rack driving down the highway at 60 to 70 makes it even more hairy to keep it within the lines when the roads a bit rough...

If you like the look of the OEM horn push a perfect match is a TR-6 steering wheel..that what I'm currently using.... Not only is the dia. perfect but the splines dia. etc. of the wheel center is the same as the BE's!

on another note...HEH Gundy love the racing tach on the BE... Tell me more about it.. I want one!

It is a Smiths reproduction. Custom. Fully electronic.
The stock tach wasn't much use with my motor.
1380 with an idiot driver revving past 7k frequently.
I have used a couple of different tachs but
this one suits my needs.
It's weird when you switch on the ignition and the darn thing
makes the needle jump to calibrate then goes back to zero.
I like seeing the shift point up around high noon.

Next up....matching 120mph speedo.(in case I stick the 3.7 back in  )
Shoot...they'll make you what you want. Nice guys.
