colors of interior parts?

I should be seeing my bugeye back in my own garage soon. The body shop said two months when I dropped it off and that was August I have been checking on it once or twice a week since, and it is nearly ready for finish paint. Originaly the car was white with red interior when I bought the car in 1976 it was red with black interior. I am restoring the car to as close to original as I can afford on my limited budget. Were all the door check straps colored to match the interior, or were they black? what about the door seals red or black? Dashboard red or black?and one more silly question if I get new interior panels and carpets and upolstry what are the chances they will all be the same shade of red??? Help please and thanks

Littlcars, as far as I can remember, the check straps matched the interior color. Here is a link to probably one of the best resources available to answer questions regarding originality. It has a ton of pictures, and gives the serial numbers involved for changes, etc. I need to order another copy for myself.

Thanks for the info on the book that should help a whole bunch. I am still wondering about all the different parts being the same shade of red any other thoughts?

When I restored my TR3, I had the same concern with my pearl white car and red interior. The vinyl pieces (dash cover, door panels, seat covers, etc.) were all the same. Even when I ordered extra material, it matched. The carpet was a deeper red, as was the Everflex top, side curtains, and top boot. They all blended well, and I've been very happy with the result.

Be sure and request samples from your vendors for all pieces. Then you can see before ordering.
