MGB Things I remember that I did to my MGB...

Offline
10-11 years ago, I was driving this car while trying to improve upon it as best I could, given my financial situation. Under the hood the first thing I had to do was replace the motor mounts, because the old ones had zero rubber left in them.

I also had to get a new brake master cylinder before I could drive it. Looks like it's still holding PhotoGrid_1474414571137.jpg

I also had to replace the fuel pump. I bought one of those solid state SU pumps.. I had to install the top, that had removed from the frame, and the frame that had been removed from the car. I had to install the drivers seat. I had to break loose the clutch, after I installed a new slave cylinder.

I also did the GM high output alternator swap with a brand new alternator when I realized the diode pack in the original had went south.

Looks like I had to zip tie the temp sensor too. (I'm pretty sure that one and several other mods came from here).

Then (or maybe before a few of them), after the car was only running for about a week, I set off on a 350 mile round trip in the untested B, to visit a person I had met here, to get a passenger seat, parts for the top frame, some rostyle hubcaps, and a few other odds n ends. But mostly to go meet the man in person and see his amazing collection of MGs. I miss Tony Barnhill.

I have a lot of boxes of parts put up that I need to find... half of which I can't even remember. I can do this. I'm going to do this. And it's going to be awesome. I feel bad that I let it sit this long.

Life does get in the way, but it's good to be back, isn't it. Cars are patient, they will wait -- and no one will arrest you if leave it in the garage or yard for a few years. Unlike what happens if you do that to children.

It will all come back quickly. I was away from my MGB for 3 years (sold it to a friend, then just bought it back) and it didn't take much time to get back into the swing of things with it.

Hahaha. OK, well I have tons of tools, ordered a new Moss catalog, and bought a blast cabinet (that I'm fixing before I even get to use - see the tools section) and a 50 lb bucket of 80 grit glass beads. Hopefully the wheels will get finished first. Yeah it's been sitting on blocks for 7 years with no tires.
