that's a fantastic shot. I love the matte black paint.

I'm debating if I want to do that color on my car.

The photo was taken in the rain so the paint looks a little better than it actually is. I was also going slower than I would have liked but I was following a jensen healey.

Trevor,
Great great photo!
You BE looks so cool in that color, if/when you repaint, it would be slick in a similar color.....note the gun metal color of the Midget Moss uses in their catalog , (I think to showcase their oil cooler kit), only the front end is seen, but a great color..............your darker version even better.
Aside from the color,
Great photo for your personal album.

I'm glad I was not the only one that noticed that.

I bought this car as "rolling restorer" something I could drive and work on at the same time. But more importantly, I'm a much smarter person based on what I've learned while owning this car!

One of the things I want to learn is auto paint. I'm pretty good at finishing furniture and can do some pretty cool paint finishes, but I've never done much in the auto field. I know it's an art learned through practice. I've got a bunch of parts (trunk lids, door skins etc that I plan to practice on. I see myself mastering the "matte" finishes before any glosses, so the "gun metal" and black are some of my options. I was even thinking of doing a two tone with both. Problem is, I live in San Diego, black and silver are Oakland Raider colors..... I don't want that.

The real problem is that the car is now green (or the Earl Sheib equivalent to BRG) It looks ok but is real tough shape. I can still see the original BRG in all of the usual places and really like it, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to get that color looking right. Green is the "Holy Grail" of British cars, so painting anything other than that is sacrilegious.

This picture really makes me realize how cool the matte black really looks! Make the thought of going away from green a little easier.

There are MANY (practically infinite) sheens of flat black. Mine is somewhat between a traditional flat and a typical satin. What you might not realize, is that the grill, windscreen uprights and bumperettes are actually a bit glossier than the car. I went back and changed their color because the car was too monotonous. I also took off the blacked out headlight rings and put chrome ones on. So, although the car was painted in an afternoon, it is not totally without thought.

Tweety: If you can find it. There is a great paint article by Carl Heideman of Eclectic Motorworks https://www.eclecticmotorworks.com/ , in Classic Motorsports magazine https://classicmotorsports.net/ , from a series of 22 chapters (articles) entitled "Project Modern Midget". Its Chapter 12: 'Primer and Paint'. Its real informative. But, there are probably tons of web articles on how to paint a car and with what, its just nice to see it with a Midget.

HA, someone sent me a link to another picture to me coming back later that day (with more rain). Notice the added rain gear?

https://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/orderpage.aspx?pi=0QAK00KP012128&po=2128

All weekend lone people asked me if I had a top for the car. I had it with me, but where's the fun in driving through the mountains with a top on the car?

I actually stayed pretty dry while moving. The my rain jacket hood was just keeping the rain off the back of my neck.
