Funny how things work out

Some of you will remember I purchased a $500.00 Midget years ago to learn on as I rebuilt two Bugeyes. Kinda a expermental try anything car. Which I have done.

Then I thought I would use the car for autocross since I had plenty of cars with tags and didn't need another car.

Now I have got a different job where I have a 98 mile comute each way. Need a car that gets decent MPG but I don't have the extra money to buy another car. I will need to do this comute three times a week

So I went to the local DMV today and got license plates for the MIDGET. I took it for a 30 minute drive. It went well. Lost the gas cap I left on trunk putting gas in it, pluging up heater vents and firewall holes, noisy valve train, but all and all I think it will be in service very soon.

Never would I have thought during the time I have owned the car that it would become something I would need to depend on, and be my #1 vehicle

For me, on my old cars, I find a locking gas cap I cannot remove the key from when open (unless you re-lock it off the vehicle).
My Willys and both old Fords have this, plus the Jag has a factory one.
NEVER lost a gas cap on those.
Another thing I HATE is the ability to lock the car without a key.
I've had to bale out (usually coat-hanger-out) more folks who oocked their keys in the car.
"Improvements" aren't necessarily better.
And, get them valves adjusted before you start this commute.

Hap helped me with information on valve lash, I grabbed a gas cap off one of the Bugeyes and it has a locking cap. so I will take your advice and use it full time

Chrome gas caps can be found at most auto parts chains on the Slant rack next to the radiator caps. Bring a spare one with you to match it up, I used to know the Slant part number but I can't remember it right now. I know it fits a 66 Ford pick up too.

Remember that this car does not have a warning chime if you leave your headlights on.

But it DOES have heated seats....in summer....and self-adjusting mirrors....and intermittent wipers.....and self-dimming lights.....and the uncanny ability to keep the weeds down in your driveway.....
