Washington state.

Illegal to buy and sell more than 4 vehicles in a 12 month period without a dealers license.
Illegal to dismantle and deal in salvage vehicles and used parts.
Illegal to have stereo equipment not firmly attached. You can be fined for having a speaker box that just sits in your car.

The things you learn when you are bored...

Presumably doing this without a license is what is meant, but the poster didn't go very deeply into it...

The thing about the stereo gear, wow that's nanny state stuff.
I understand that a speakerbox traveling at 70mph could ruin your day but what's next? No loose items in the car just like at the track? What about hauling a dishwasher home in the back of your SUV? Isn't that dangerous?

Sounds like the type of law that may have been originally aimed at a certain - er demographic. Can't help but wonder if it was targeting oversized boom boxes back when people actually carried boom boxes.

As I recall, there is a law in Oregon that your car stereo can't be heard more than 50' from your car. Clearly not enforced, or not enforced for the low frequency jungle drums. There are times when somebody pulls up and my teeth rattle to some beat.

In the last 12 months I've bought 4 (MGB, Kia, BMW bike, FJ40 Land Cruiser) and sold 4 (Tunebug, Honda, FJ40, old BMW bike)... good thing I don't live in WA!

I didn't realize it had been that busy... no wonder I was a bit stressed!

I didn't realize it had been that busy, and I didn't fully realized that I had completely replaced my fleet... no wonder I was a bit stressed!

I imagine that in any one state, there is a law against anything if you dig into the law books. I love living in the land of freedom.

These laws are used when ever the law enforcement office wants to give you the daddy treatment, or when you are being sued in civil court, (I know this from experience)

The laws seem bad enough but it is the regulations that are really taking away our freedoms, and regulation have more of a bite and don't need the same process to set in force as a law. example EPA

I got a ticket in high school (New Jersey) for having my license plate attached with wire. Apparently you have to use bolts there. At least back in the early 70's

I know this is shading over into politics, but since I remember what Calofornia smog was like before they forced emission controls on to the manufacturers, I am cool with the EPA. I also cannot remember the last time a river caught fire in the US, something that did happen back in the Good Old Days.

I think it's the lack of manufacturing that's clearing the air out there, we don't make much stuff here anymore. I bet there are plenty of river fires and smog in China right now.

Yes the EPA has done a good job, they seem to have alot of power with no one to check them and sometimes they don't get it right, kinda of like the IRS.

Yes it is nice to be able to eat fish from the Chesapeake again

Here in Metro-Detroit it’s illegal to leave your vehicle unlocked or to be unarmed. Or perhaps that’s just an unwritten law – I lose track of such things,
