Simple Brake purchase ?question?

Has anyone out there bought their brakes through your over the counter parts store (Autozone etc.)? Any problems going that route instead of the British parts catelogs (VB, Moss etc.)
Also, whats your opinion of ceramic <span style="font-weight: bold">Bendex</span> for the front? Thanks

I buy 'em wherever I can get 'em "today" if ya mean pads/shoes. I keep a set of shoes "in rotation" and have 'em reshod at a truck brake specialty place. They used to bond our Rolls brake shoes. Quite a "bargain" actually.

Are they the ceramic pads? I know the rear are semi metallic I was looking at, at the parts store.

Never tried the ceramic ones. I'd stick with conventional materials. The brakes are plenty effective on that lump, ya can lock 'em up any time. Unless you plan on REALLY hammerin' it into corners REPEATEDLY, I'd not be too anxious over ceramic pads.

Just my take on it.

I always get mine at my local parts store. Shoes usually take a day to get, but pads have never been a problem.

I tried to order a spring kit from Moss over the weekend, but they are on BO.

I prefer organic pads over ceramic, mostly due to my MK1 having manual (no boost) on the brakes. They create more dust, but that is no big deal.

I get 'em at Advance Auto Parts, but they have to order them from the warehouse. (there the next day) Bendix Brand.

NAPA has always gotten me the right parts.
They have access to a European warehouse that stocks things like wheel cylinders for Midgets. I've been happy with the availability and quality of those parts.
Sometimes they just can't get something, then I try Schucks.

I've also fount that buying on https://www.partsamerica.com/ you can sometimes get the option of picking up the item at a local store and not only avoid shipping costs but also get a lower price than what they would have charged at the store.
Recently I bought an alternator for the Midget this way and saved about $30.

I, like Doc, use conventional materials for a stock street car, and like Rick, NAPA can get me just about anything I want, such as brake parts, seals, bearings etc. For original style exposed parts I used Moss, Vic. Brit. etc. But now I will check with Tony first on original style parts. His knowledge on British cars is indisputable.

Well, I ended up getting the Bendex Ceramics at Advanced Auto. Put them on today, so hopefully everything works out fine.
I pulled the rear drums off to find out that they were still good, so just did the front today. I guess I could try to return the rears. Not sure if they would take back a special order item anyways? But I figure I will need them downt the road so I might just keep them.
