OK, I posted the starting issues earlier and was told to check the connections...so
Pulled the started, cleaned brushed connections etc.
Reinstalled starter...turned key
nothing
Remove all leads to the ignition relay...cleaned all connections
turned key and it SMOKED..ignition relay has shorted out
Bought a replacement igntion relay $30
Installed new relay...nothing
Began the process of tracing wires with a circuit light.
Still nothing
Finally decided to start the whole wiring process over and begin the check to see if there is a short in the harness, something crossed, mis-connected who knows....
Finally, bypassed the starter relay and VOILA' it starts.
So we know the problem, now to just buy a new starter relay.
Question: Is it normal for these to just stop working like that? or should I be concerned that there is some greater issue that should be looked at?
I will say that I know where every wire on this car goes and what it should be connected to and they all look pretty good now.
